- What else can I bring?
Here’s where the fun really begins! J. Albert Studios is committed to highlighting your individuality and unique interests, and you can help us by bringing accessories and props that make your personality pop. Bring your favorite hat, musical instrument, sunglasses, sports gear, and even pets. This is your chance to show off the real you – go for it!
- Do you have any makeup tips?
Yes we do – for girls and guys, too! Before your session, stand two feet in front a mirror, then dab a small amount of concealer on any noticeable blemishes. This will help produce a clearer complexion in your photos. But don’t worry – we can also make all the imperfections disappear with the magic of photo retouching!
- What should I do with my hair?
You look great just the way you are! But if you still choose to get a new haircut or style before your pictures, make sure to do so at least a week in advance. This gives your hair time to fill in, mellow out and just look more naturally you. Don’t try a radically different style. Chances are you won’t feel like “you”.
- What about a suntan?
Too much sun can unnaturally darken your skin, dry out your hair and exaggerate oily skin and blemishes. In pictures with bare shoulder poses, tan lines will show up as white marks. While it is possible to correct these issues with photo retouching, it can become costly. If you choose to tan before your appointment, be sure to do so in moderation and try to keep your tan even.
- Can I bring someone with me?
Absolutely! Some seniors are more comfortable with a parent, friend or sibling along to help.
- What about shoes?
Particularly in casual shots, shoes will show. Make sure you bring shoes to complement each of your outfits. Barefoot poses are also an option.
- What should I wear, and how many outfits should I bring?
Most importantly, select outfits that you like and in which you feel the most comfortable. Be sure to bring several outfits ranging from casual to formal. This will provide the greatest variety of photo opportunities that reflect you and your personal style.
For guys: Bring a dress shirt, tie and suit or sports coat for traditional portraits. Medium- and dark-colored sweaters also photograph well. For casual and outdoor photos, bring comfortable jeans, shirts, sweaters, shorts and sweatshirts.
For girls: For traditional portraits, bring dresses, formals, sweaters and blouses in your favorite color. For casual and outdoor photos, select apparel with bright colors and patterns and don’t forget the skirts, jeans and shorts. If you like an outfit, it’s probably because you look good in it – so make sure you bring it! Also, all-white photos are popular because they provide a dramatic effect, so consider bringing white apparel that can be photographed with a white background. Blonde or light hair looks great with white clothing.

Weddings
- How long should we allow for pictures of the bridal party?
It’s a good idea to allow 30 to 40 minutes after your wedding for these photos. Also, receiving lines take an average of 20 minutes, whether it’s with just you or the entire wedding party. Keep this in mind to ensure you leave plenty of time for everything between the ceremony and the reception.
- Is it a good idea to take all the photographs before the wedding?
Yes, it can be a good idea for several reasons. For example, you and your wedding party have just gotten ready and look your very best. Before the wedding, no one’s apparel is wrinkled from all the hugging associated with receiving lines, and makeup is less likely to be smeared from crying those tears of joy! Taking all your photos before the wedding also works well when there is a limited time between the ceremony and reception.
- How many photographers will you bring?
Depending on the package you choose, we may bring one or two photographers. We recommend going with two photographers to capture the wedding from a variety of viewpoints at once.
- When will my prints be available to view on line?
We post photos as quickly as possible – within a few days. During peak wedding season, it may take up to 10 days.
- How do family and guests order prints? Are we responsible for collecting the money?
Family and guests can order directly online at www.jalbertstudios.com. We will provide you with a passcode that you can share with them so they can view your photo gallery and order prints online via our secure shopping cart function. That means you don’t have to do anything! We also offer a 15% discount for orders over $85 placed within the first 14 days of the wedding posting.
- Are you available for photos at rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, etc,?
Absolutely! We can price those services by the hour or create a package – whatever works best for you.
- Do you do destination weddings?
We love doing destination weddings because they offer many unique photo opportunities. We are available to travel anywhere. Packages vary depending on the duration and expense needed to cover a destination event.
- Do you have backup equipment in case something goes wrong?
Yes. We carry at least two cameras along with multiple lenses, a laptop computer and memory cards. We prepare for everything so that no technical glitch interferes with capturing your event.
- Who all should I include in my wedding portraits?
Anyone that is important in your life should be included in your wedding photos. Remember parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles and your closest friends. We suggest making a list prior to your wedding so that we can be sure we don’t miss anyone!
